Hey everyone,
Husband and I are not big movie watchers. In fact, I think we’ve seen three (yeah, 3) total in the time we’ve been dating and/or married (almost 7 years). They were:
A Walk to Remember (I’m risking offending a lot of you here, but I did NOT like that movie. It was wretchedly boring and predictable. A lot of my girl friends had been to see it like 6 times and told me I simply had to see it. Wished I’d saved my $1.50.)
Ocean’s 12 (while I loved 11 and 13 was okay, 12 bit it big-time. Again, wish I’d saved my $1.50…)
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (so good that we now own it)
Lately, Husband has been saying he wants to see a movie in a theater again. I’m game, but finding a flick we both want to see is often hard. I’ll give you a list of some movies we’ve both liked and then…here’s the kicker…I need YOUR RECOMMENDATIONS! What’s out there? I don’t even know. What’s a hit? What’s a snore? Here’s the list. We’ve both enjoyed:
The Italian Job
Ocean’s 11 and 13
The Bourne movies
Stranger Than Fiction
13 Going on 30 (don’t tell Husband that I told you he didn’t mind that one)
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
Hitch
I do not like gore of ANY kind (I covered my eyes for part of the Narnia movie, for example), and Husband doesn’t like priss of any kind (read: no Jane Austen movies where there’s lots of foufy dancing and no musicals). So…help!
Hmmm… just movies in the theaters? I liked “I Am Legend.” Post-apocalyptic Will Smith. I wasn’t blown away by it, but I enjoyed it and don’t want my money back. :oP
I hear Juno is fantastic.
Not mushy and not gorey….
The clips I have seen look hilarious.
Yeah, I heard that’s good, too. Also – I hear REALLY good things about “Atonement.” That’s one that we’ll probably see in the theater. I know it’s war-time… so not sure about the gore. I bet you could pretty quickly find a trailer online.
Hi,
I found your blog through your comment on Big Mama (doesn’t she crack you up?).
You and your husband sound a lot like us. I can’t stand gore (even mild) & my husband can’t stand too much mush. The “Ocean’s” movies are on our top 10 list too!
So how about National Treasure: Book of Secrets. We enjoyed the first one, but haven’t seen this one. WIth 2 little ones it will probably be a renter for us. But, it sounds like it might fit the bill.
Good Luck!
Juno gets the thumbs-up from me! (But I want to see Atonement next.)
But will Atonement be too “lovey” for Husband? Juno thumbs up. Atonement rocks. Liked I am Legend, didnt love it. Looking forward to Fools Gold. Jury is still out on Mad Money.
Thats that!
