Simple Woman’s Daybook 04.06.11

I look at that date and think, Where is this year going?

Outside my window…are sunshine and patches of GRASS!

I am thinking…about food.  Husband and I are currently doing an elimination diet, and it’s definitely been an interesting last couple of days.  Two days of green smoothies = crabby me, crabby Husband.  🙂

I am thankful for…swimming lessons for my girl.

From the kitchen…sweet brown rice with wakame seaweed, adzuki beans, baked sweet potatoes, avocadoes, lettuce, and a little cumin and sea salt.  Yum!

I am wearing…jeans and a green v-neck shirt.

I am creating…crayoned eggs with my girl.

I am going…on a date this week!  Hooray!

I am reading…One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp and Simplicity Parenting by Kim John Payne and Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver

I am hoping…that my mom’s house won’t get flooded.  It’s going to be a tough year for the Red River Valley, I’m afraid…

I am hearing…airplanes.  I had to got to ride on last week.

Around the house…are more stacks of boxes.  Moving seems imminent, yet so far away.

One of my favorite things…dancing with my kids to The Quebe Sisters.

A few plans for the rest of the week: meeting with a potential wedding couple, date, MOPS Steering meeting, Small Group, swim lessons, preschool, a possible photography workshop, babysitting, and probably some work on the house.

Here is picture for thought I am sharing…because I love this portrait of Anja.

Outside my window…are clouds and snowdrifts that are decreasing by a few inches per day. Hooray!

I am thinking…about a wedding client.

I am thankful for…my mom, and how she has my back.

From the kitchen…tofu scramble and breakfast greens.

I am wearing…sweatpants, a t-shirt, and a long gray cardigan-type thing.

I am creating…stacks of boxes and bags of stuff for moving day.

I am going…out to lunch with a former co-worker today. Hooray!

I am reading…One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp and Great House by Nicole Krauss and Simplicity Parenting by Kim John Payne.

I am hoping…to have finished painting our new living room by the time this posts.

I am hearing…my own breath.

Around the house…are far less toys and books, since most of them are packed away.

One of my favorite things…water. It’s my drink of choice, and we are so blessed to get it fresh in our homes.

A few plans for the rest of the week: hanging out with a friend, watching another friend’s kids, small group, Anja starts swimming lessons, and our annual spring celebration.

Here is picture for thought I am sharing…because I like this pose so much better than her usual camera pose.

Outside my window…sunshine and still LOTS of snow. The drift outside our door is taller than me.

I am thinking…about one new outfit I should buy for an upcoming trip.

I am thankful for…orange juice, a rare treat.

From the kitchen…tacos.

I am wearing…wide-leg pants from Anthro (sale rack!), a t-shirt with mushrooms and lady bugs from Target, and a pink sweater hoodie from I-Can’t-Remember-Where (it’s like 7 years old).

I am creating…nothing of note. Having this category be so boring lately is making me realize that I do miss all the creative activities I used to have time for, like drawing, painting, crocheting. I should try to squeeze them in once a week.

I am going…shopping this week! Excited to (hopefully) find a cute something.

I am reading…One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp and Great House by Nicole Krauss.

I am hoping…to work out tonight. Just makes me feel so much better when I get to the gym 3x/wk.

I am hearing…the wind. And this stinking loud computer. And a baby monitor.

Around the house…dust lingers, but I don’t have the motivation today.

One of my favorite things…lotion. My hands wouldn’t survive winter without it! Seriously, I would have bloody stumps.

A few plans for the rest of the week: Meeting, shopping, small group, date with Anja, much-needed haircut, visit from family!

Here is picture for thought I am sharing…

Some delicious pasta with sweet potato dish I made last month.  Hope I can find the recipe, because we liked it!

Outside my window…the snow piles again, softly covering the old, dirty snow. I am thankful for it – the white instead of the muddy blackish-brown.

I am thinking…about children’s prayers. Did you have a simple prayer you were taught as a child, or did you pray for specific things?

I am thankful for…a kitchen where I can create, even if it is currently quite messy.

From the kitchen…Pesto Pasta.

I am wearing…jeans, a white long-sleeve t-shirt and a brown poncho.

I am creating…a batch of steamed carrots for my son.

I am going…to a MOPS Swap today!

I am reading…One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp.

I am hoping…that my move-in can wait until April. Funny how things change.

I am hearing…the computer’s hum and the squeak of my daughter’s (my old) bed.

Around the house…is a tent, a bunch of scrapbooking supplies, and a pile of mail that needs going through.

One of my favorite things…is peanut butter.

A few plans for the rest of the week: chiropractor, small group, touring a swimming facility where Anja will take lessons, and hopefully more home renovations.

Here is picture for thought I am sharing…my sweet boy, wondering why I’m making him lie on the floor for pictures.

Outside my window…the birdfeeder that, last week, lay on a huge drift of snow, today lies on the deck!

I am thinking…about giving thanks.

I am thankful for…creativity in its many forms.  I love to marvel at the beauty of what God has created and all that I see others creating.

From the kitchen…Black Bean and Yam Quesadillas.
I am wearing…jeans, a sky blue camisole and a brown long-sleeve top.
I am creating…a big mess, mostly.
I am going…a little bit crazy trying to catch up with all that I got behind in while I was sick.
I am reading…Notes from a Small Island by Bill Bryson and One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp.  Still.
I am hoping…for an early spring.  I am sick of the snow, but I don’t want things to get flooded up north.  So whatever God wills.

I am hearing…Markus yelling at his new truck toy in the other room.
Around the house…is mostly that mess I was talking about.  And some new Valentine stuff I got for the kids.
One of my favorite things…is soft hair.

A few plans for the rest of the week: work, library field trip, chiropractor, small gropu, more work, a possibly visit from family?

Here is picture for thought I am sharing…another old one from the files!
